Internship Spotlight: Dominik Drabent
Minnesota State University, Mankato international students with internships and co-ops are highlighted in the Internship Spotlight series on the Kearney Center news page and social media pages.
Today's Spotlight is on Domonik Drabent, a double major in Gender & Women's Studies and Aviation Management from Germany.
What company do you intern for and what is your job title?
I work as a teaching intern in the Department of Gender & Women's Studies at Minnesota State Mankato.
What is one important skill you learned during your internship?
During my current internship, an important skill I have learned is how to respond with patience. Often a student requests some information they easily could have found somewhere else or they are not as professional in their writing when they should have been, but it is my job to still assist them in a very friendly and supportive way as I never can know the reason why a student did not find the information or wrote the way they did. Thus, I patiently respond to all my students to make sure they have the resources they need to be successful.
Did the internship prepare you or make you excited about a career in that field?
If you could choose your dream job, what would it be?
What is the best tip you can offer other international students trying to secure an internship?
