All students can enjoy their first night at or back to college on the dance floor at Minnesota State University, Mankato. The featured event after Residence hall move in day, Club Maverick features the latest EDM artists with club lighting, special effects, and live cirque performers.
The music and DJ lights will start up at 9:00 p.m. on August 23rd in the CSU Ballroom. This is the sixth year that this event has taken place.
A staple Welcome Week event, Club Maverick is a fun and safe way for students to celebrate their first night at college or returning from summer break. Every year, the event has a different DJ and this year’s dance will feature DJ Boss from New Jersey.
Gavin Boss aka DJ Boss is one of the most profound and respected DJ’s in on the college circuity. Combining elements of house music, with crowd interaction and modern banging beats, Bos has found that perfect mix for the college scene.
Gavin is driven by music, to him it is a field of energy and amazing connection. He believes music can bring people together and help them create a connection.
The event will have a lot of DJ and party lights to give the Ballroom a club look. Also, the first 500 students to show a text sent out by the Student Events Team’s free texting service will get a free LED glow wand that they can use throughout the event and bring back to their dorm room at the end of the night. There will also be free punch and water at the event to keep students hydrated and dancing.
This event also features a photo booth provided by fun.com. There will be giveaways to the crowd and much more.
“Club Maverick has always been my favorite event during Welcome Week,” said Brandon Weideman, student at Minnesota State, Mankato. “I love watching all of the dance battles that happen on the floor and I can’t wait to have some punch.”
Students will need their MavCARD to get into the event. Backpacks are allowed. No outside food for beverage will be allowed.
Welcome Week is a university wide event. It takes place every year during the weekend before classes start. Other events during welcome week that are put on by Student Events Team include the hypnotist, Cosmic Bingo, and the outdoor film.
Other events put during Welcome Week include a volleyball tournament, sponsored by Residential Life, Can I Kiss You, sponsored by the Women’s Center, and many more.
The Student Events Team is a student-led organization that produces fun, interactive, educational events where students make life long memories and celebrate their Maverick Pride.
