Minnesota State Mankato Women’s Center Announces March Events to Celebrate Women’s History Month

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Women’s Center is planning a series of virtual events in March to celebrate Women’s History Month.

The following events are free and open to the public:

Monday, March 1 from 12-2 p.m., DIY App Design

Go to https://tinyurl.com/DIYAppMSU. This event is sponsored by LaunchMN Southwest, Minnesota State Mankato’s B507, and the College of Business Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Wednesday, March 24 from 4-5:30 p.m., Discussion of the book “Veiled Superheroes: Islam, Feminism, and Popular Culture”
Go to https://tinyurl.com/ax376v44. This event is open to anyone who has read the book, which was written by Sophia Rose Arjana. The discussion will be led by Yalda Hamidi, a faculty member in Minnesota State Mankato’s Department of Gender and Women’s Studies (part of the University’s College of Social and Behavioral Sciences).

Wednesday, March 24 from 5-6:30 p.m., FAWK (Funny Asian Women Collective) comedy show
Go to https://tinyurl.com/FAWKMSU. This event is led by Asian American Affairs at Minnesota State Mankato.

Tuesday, March 30 from 5-6:30 p.m., “Femicide in Latin America”
Go to https://tinyurl.com/FemicideMSU. This event, which will address the global issue of gender violence, is led by Latinx Affairs at Minnesota State Mankato.
