Mankato, Minn. – More than 50 Minnesota State University, Mankato staff, faculty and administrators have volunteered to assist the University’s grounds staff in planting flowers, raking and performing outdoor clean-up work at more than 30 campus locations Thursday, May 23 during Minnesota State Mankato’s 19th annual flower planting and campus beautification day.

Volunteers will check in beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Performing Arts Plaza (located on the west side of the Earley Center for Performing Arts building, closest to Maywood Avenue), where they will pick up tools and planting instructions.

Volunteer teams will disperse across campus at about 12 p.m. and arrive at their assigned areas for planting flowers, raking and general outdoor cleanup work until approximately 1 p.m.

(NOTE TO MEDIA: Heavy weekend rains resulted in campus garden areas being too wet for planting and outdoor work on the originally scheduled planting date of Monday, May 20. If weather causes the Thursday, May 23 date to be postponed, another announcement will be sent. Please contact Dan Benson at 507-389-6838 or daniel.benson@mnsu.edu with questions.)
