Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Music News Release

MANKATO, Minn. - Minnesota State University, Mankato's choral groups will perform in concert Sunday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m. The concert will be at St. John the Baptist Church, 632 South Broad St. in Mankato.

The concert theme is “Waiting for The Morning.” The concert choir and chamber singers are conducted by Aaron Humble and will sing music by Jacob Narverud, Joan Szymko, Moses Hogan, William Byrd and Dolly Parton.

When asked about the concert theme, Humble said: “It feels so wonderful to be preparing a concert to present for our community again. I’m so grateful that the University choirs had the chance to make music last year, but singing for a camera is not the same as live performance in front of our friends, patrons and loved ones. ‘Waiting for the Morning’ felt like an accurate description of where we have been for the past 19 months. While it may seem that dawn is breaking, it will take some time before life returns to normal. With this concert, we’re going to acknowledge what we’ve lost, but also look forward with joyful hearts toward a better tomorrow.”

Minnesota State Mankato students are admitted free with a valid MavCARD. General admission is $9 and $7 for students (K-12) and all children. Those who wish to purchase tickets online should go to https://link.mnsu.edu/musictickets or call the Performance Series office, (507) 389-5549.
