MANKATO – London’s longest-running West End show is up next in the Minnesota State University, Mankato Theatre season: Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap.”
The world-famous murder mystery runs 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11-13 and Oct. 17-20; and 2 p.m. Oct. 14, 20 and 21 in the Andreas Theatre, Earley Center for Performing Arts, Minnesota State Mankato.
“The Mousetrap” originally opened in London in 1952 and has been running ever since. Directed by Heather E. Hamilton, here’s a bit more about the play: A group of strangers is stranded in a boarding house during a snow storm, one of whom is a murderer. The suspects include the newly married couple who run the house, and the suspicions in their minds nearly wreck their perfect marriage.
Other characters are a spinster with a curious background, an architect who seems better equipped to be a chef, a retired Army major, a strange little man who claims his car has overturned in a drift, and a jurist who makes life miserable for everyone.
The play is known for its twist ending, and early audiences were asked not to reveal it when leaving the theater.
Tickets are $16 regular; $14 for seniors ages 65 and older, children under 16 and groups of 15 or more; and $11 for Minnesota State Mankato students. The Box Office is open 4-6 p.m. weekdays in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center, or buy single tickets online at MSUTheatre.com. Call the Box Office at 507-389-6661.
