Mankato, Minn. – Singer-songwriter Joyann Parker (pictured) performs Saturday, Nov. 16 p.m. at Hooligans Neighborhood Pub, 1400 East Madison Avenue (Madison East Center), Mankato. The Kit Kildahl Group will open the show with a set starting at 7:30 p.m.
The concert event is co-sponsored by KMSU-The Maverick and the Minnesota State University, Mankato Performance Series with assistance from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
Joyann Parker is the best Twin Cities female singer you've never heard. There's pain in Parker's heart - and in just about every song she writes and sings. And, onstage, the grimace on her face, the clenched fists and the ache in her roar let her listeners know that she knows hurt...whatever she plays, Parker owns it. She's a powerful, animated blues-rock singer, capable guitarist and pianist, and a writer of praiseworthy originals. The Pasadena Weekly writes, "Parker is a singing, songwriting, guitar-playing, self-producing, self-aware powerhouse, but the driving force is unquestionably her voice - a formidable instrument she wields with soul and taste."
Joyann Parker has performed for thousands at major venues and festivals across the country, frequently sells out some of the most prestigious clubs in the Midwest and garnered national and international attention for her newest record, "Hard To Love," including features in DownBeat and Living Blues Magazine.
Concert admission is $12 in advance, $15 day of show. Tickets are available at Hooligans or online at www.mnsu.edu/music. For more information, call the Performance Series office, 507-389-5549.
