Mankato, Minn. – The Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Mass Communication’s annual Media Day lecture will feature a presentation on the Vietnam Black Soldiers Portrait Project by Johnny Crawford on Tuesday, April 19 at 7 p.m. in Centennial Student Union’s Ostrander Auditorium.
Crawford’s presentation, free and open to the public, is made possible by the University’s College of Arts and Humanities Nadine B. Andreas Endowment.
According to the Vietnam Black Soldiers Portrait Project website, the project’s mission is to educate Americans about the Black men and women who served, suffered and died while fighting for democracy and civil rights on behalf of the people in South Vietnam, even though they did not have the rights themselves.
Johnny Crawford, according to his online biography, is an award-winning visual storyteller and educator from Jackson, Georgia, who has documented the human spirit in 45 states and four continents for 39 years.
