Jan. 8: Farewell Celebration for Marilyn Wells

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato President Richard Davenport announced that a farewell celebration honoring Marilyn Wells, provost and senior vice president of academic affairs, is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 8 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the University’s Hearth Lounge (located on the lower level of Centennial Student Union).

A program will begin at 4 p.m. The public is welcome to attend the farewell celebration.

Wells, who has served as provost and senior vice president of academic affairs at Minnesota State Mankato since July 22, 2013, was recently appointed chancellor at Penn State Brandywine, located in Media, Pennsylvania, effective Jan. 13.

“Wednesday’s celebration reception is an opportunity to thank Dr. Wells for her many contributions to Minnesota State Mankato and wish her well in her new career opportunity,” said Davenport. “We greatly appreciate her leadership over the past 6-1/2 years as the University’s chief academic officer.”

Minnesota State Mankato is conducting a national search for its next permanent provost and senior vice president. Davenport appointed David Jones, Ph.D., vice president of student affairs and enrollment management and Gregg Marg, Ph.D., professor of biology and president of the Faculty Association, to serve as search co-chairs.

Davenport has appointed Matt Cecil as Minnesota State Mankato’s interim provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, effective Jan. 13.

Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 14,297 students, is part of the Minnesota State system, which includes 30 colleges and seven universities.
