Jan. 20: 5th Annual MLK Day of Service

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Office of Community Engagement will hold its fifth annual MLK Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 20 from 1-4 p.m. in Centennial Student Union’s MavAve area (located near the CSU food court area).

The public is invited to attend the day of service event and join students in working on different projects for various community organizations. (A responsible adult should accompany minors.)

The projects include:

  • Making tie blankets and knitting scarves to donate to a local shelter
  • Making dog toys for the Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society (BENCHS)
  • Making cards for “Cardz for Kidz,” a national organization that distributes cards to hospitalized and/or traumatized children worldwide
  • Decorating brown paper bags for a MY Place (formerly the Boys & Girls Club of Mankato) meal distributed through the University’s Campus Kitchen
