Aug. 30: Aviation Students to Attend Delta Propel Pilot Career Path Program Kick-Off Event
Minnesota State Mankato has one of eight programs nationwide that were selected for Delta program.
Mankato, Minn. – More than 150 Minnesota State University, Mankato aviation students have been invited to meet with leaders from Delta Air Lines to learn more about the Delta Propel Pilot Career Path Program. Delta will host the on-campus kick-off event Thursday, Aug. 30 from 1-3 p.m. in the University’s Centennial Student Union, Rooms 253-4-5.
Minnesota State Mankato is one of just eight collegiate aviation programs in the United States that were selected to be part of this unique pathway for students, according to a July 17 Delta announcement.
NOTE TO EDITORS: Media are encouraged to attend the event beginning at 1 p.m. to learn more about the Delta Propel Program and the opportunities available to students. After approximately 45-60 minutes of presentation to the student audience, media will be welcome to interview students, representatives from Delta and faculty/staff from Minnesota State Mankato’s Department of Aviation.
The Delta Propel Pilot Career Path Program offers students the opportunity to join a defined, accelerated and customized path from college to Delta. This program allows Delta to recruit talented pilots at an earlier stage in their career, provide a qualified job offer to selected students and be an integral part of their professional development.
“This new Delta program provides very unique opportunities for our students,” said Tom Peterson, assistant professor in Minnesota State Mankato’s Department of Aviation. “In the airline industry, new college graduates and students do not ordinarily get job offers like this program provides. We are very pleased to be selected by Delta to participate in this program.”
The Aug. 30 event will include remarks from Minnesota State Mankato President Richard Davenport as well as representatives from Delta Air Lines. Local aviation industry professionals are also expected to attend.
